First Night with the JCVAP Herb Crown

The Herb Crown showed up on our desks this week, and we will beat it up six ways from Sunday on Friday night. Torch, coil, YLLVape IH 3.0, and the JCVAP Pockety – the whole matrix. Early impressions land strong. The full breakdown drops Friday night.

Manufacturer says

The JCVAP Herb Crown is a universal ball vape injector cap – a Grade 2 titanium chamber that holds 300 2mm balls and sits on top of a bowl to vape the herb below. Ball vape power in a portable form. CNC-machined titanium with a walnut wood handle, 15.6mm inner diameter and 16.6mm outer diameter, and a square anti-roll shape on the handle so it stays put on a flat surface. The handle comes off, and JCVAP sells other wood options.

The Crown started as a dry herb attachment for the Pockety dab rig. After a few versions it became a viable ball vape. The community picked it up as a universal drop in for third-party induction heaters and found that they work even better than the Pockety. JCVAP credits two 420vapegeeks community members on the relevant product pages: ChillMike for input on the Crown Cap itself, and Candles for the concept behind the PID Coil Adapter.

Heating the Herb Crown

Four heating methods have all seen action on the Crown in the 420vapegeeks master thread. The consensus by method:

JCVAP Pockety

(the manufacturer’s intended pairing): concentrate mode, 550F, 150 second duration. Preheat the bowl 20 seconds before the first draw. Older Pockety firmware allows up to 650F if you have a unit that predates the temperature cap.

YLLVape YLL IH 3.0

(the community favorite): 80W for 45 to 60 seconds cold, 25 to 30 seconds for reheats. Candles kicked off the whole DIY pathway with this observation:

Coil (PID e-nail)

JCVAP recommends 500 to 550F with a five minute stabilization, and their PID Coil Adapter mates the Crown to a 20mm or 25mm barrel coil. Community testing has pushed as high as 640F for one and done rips.

Torch:

The Crown heats under a torch too. Fastest and cheapest, but easiest to overshoot. We will touch on it briefly Friday. It isn’t where the community lives.

Chillmike wrote the most detailed technique post in the thread. His Ispire Wand method:

“Wand in Herb mode. Pack bowl fully with centerhole-poke. Preheat bowl on setting 4 for 10-12 blinks. Heat Crown on setting 3 until full timeout. Hit after head’s seated on bowl 7 seconds. Stir + retamp + centerhole-poke between hits. Usually 2 massive rips, sometimes a 3rd.” – chillmike, 420vapegeeks
