About 3,500 ruby corundum gems. A 35mm coil. A titanium Macro Bowl that swings from 0.2 to 1.6 grams. $656. The whole thing ships as a kit with a dock, three screens, two glass joints in 14mm and 18mm, and a Tri Tool. It is, by any measure, absurd, and Vices is up front about it. Their own copy asks “is it a bit of a novelty?” and answers “perhaps.” That kind of self awareness goes a long way with me.

I have not had this thing on my desk yet, but Troy has. Troy ran big bowls in single high-temp pulls and reports monster hits, the way the Coma is clearly built to deliver them. That is the obvious use case, and at 1.6 grams of capacity in a fully ramped ball heater, I would expect nothing less.

What has me actually curious is the other end. Pack a full bowl, run the PID low, drop it on a bong, and slow it down. A heater that holds an even roast for up to 10 minutes is built for sharing, and the dual purpose framing in Vices’ copy is real, not marketing. Low and slow, with three or four people in rotation, is the use case I want to put time on.
