The Angus Enhanced performs!

Yllvape’s Angus Enhanced (save 10% with code “troyandjerry”) dry herb vaporizer kicks out some solid vapor at an affordable price! In the picture above, I have it with the short glass stem installed, and filled with ruby balls to cool the vapor. At first glance, it looks like a tweaked Mighty+ vaporizer, but the guts couldn’t be more different. The Angus Enhanced sports two removable 18650 batteries for endless sessions, and is powered by light! It has a halogen bulb as a heater that very quickly gets to temperature and provides a pure heat free of foreign tastes.

Early Angus models had a mouthpiece that Troy and I didn’t like much. It worked, but was assembled with a pressure fit connection that restricted how well you could clean it. But the Enhanced takes a different approach. It has a simple, round bowl top that holds any mouthpiece stem with an outer diameter of 12mm. That means it will work with all the POTV glass adapters for the Lobo, but also comes with its own suite of glass attachments.

The kit it comes with is pretty complete, except for one very important thing. It doesn’t ship from Yllvape with batteries due to all of the shipping issues that can pose. So while the vape is very affordable with a list price of $219 ($197 after using the code “troyandjerry”), you’ll need to find your own pair of high performance 18650 batteries, usually around $20.

First impressions

The Angus Enhanced is the only halogen heated portable dry herb vaporizer currently on the market, and it has some advantages over other heating methods. The heat up time would be instant with the halogen bulb, but the Angus encases the bulb in ruby balls that take a little longer to heat up while providing a punchy hit. Here are some first impressions:

• The Angus has five temperatures ranging from 180 – 220 degrees Celsius in ten degree increments. For the Americans, that’s 356, 375, 395, 410 and 428 Fahrenheit. 
• Controls are simple with only one button to keep track of. Five clicks for on and off, and two clicks to change the temperature setting and turn the heater on. The light ring around the button also serves as a battery meter.
• We haven’t used it yet, but there is a computer app in beta that you can use to adjust the on-board temperature settings.
• Boost mode is accessed by pressing the power button and holding it in until you’re done. It raises the temperature by 10 degrees Celsius, and drops back when you let go of the button.
• The Angus is a full convection, portable ball vape. It is pretty efficient and doesn’t cook your herbs between hits, even though the heater is intense.
• The taste on this vape is great! The glass heater and glass vapor path see to that!
• The single button with light ring are really effective at communicating, and it didn’t take me long to get used to it. The haptic feedback buzzes when it turns on/off, and when it reaches temp. Super easy!
• If you have any POTV glass attachments for the ONE or Lobo, break them out! They work great with the Angus Enhanced.
• The DCB (leftovers) is an even, dark brown when cooked on the highest temp. Fully extracted!

Here’s a look into the empty oven. The light and ruby balls are below and can be seen when you turn it on if it’s empty like this.

Each of the two 18650 batteries that power the Angus has its own compartment, one on each side. These battery covers are easier to take on and off than on the original Angus battery covers.

…and here it is restricted to about 35%. All you have to do is turn the cover. Cool feature!

The Angus also comes with a nice brush, a loading funnel, and three glass dosing capsules. I’ve never used glass capsules before…cool!
