Tafee Flaske – Mixed Feelings from Community
While most Flaske owners love and adore their devices, a few have had a rocky experience. Some users reported metal dust/flakes at the top stem area of the Flaske. This damage can potentially leave small flakes of the finish on the silicone airpath gasket. The bottom of the stem has also left behind metal dust after insertion.

Tafee’s response has also resulted in mixed feelings from the community.
We have carefully inspected the images you sent.
Based on what we can see, the sparkling particles around the silicone appear to be the result of abrasion caused during stem insertion.
When inserting the stem, please take care to ensure it is properly aligned with the guide rail in the device and not at an angle before sliding it into the Power Base Unit. You may notice there is an intentional gap between the top of the stem and the top of the Flaske Power Base Unit once the stem is fully inserted. This gap is by design and serves to eliminate physical contact between the two hard metal surfaces when the stem is inserted or separated properly.
If the stem is introduced at an angle or is not fully seated on the guide rails before being pushed into place, it can contact the upper metal portion of the Power Base Unit, creating resistance. Over time, this resistance can create small metal abrasions, which is consistent with what we can see on the sides of your Flaske Power Base Unit in the photographs you provided. These fine metallic particles can then accumulate around the silicone, creating the sparkling appearance that understandably caught your attention.
Based on the images provided, we do not believe this indicates a defect with the silicone, the stem or the device itself. We recommend thoroughly cleaning the affected area (Top Housing Gasket and the inside areas of the Top of your Stem) to remove any accumulated particles before continuing to use your Flaske. You images show a notable amount of hair, lint and other particles accumulated around the areas of your device top housing gasket area.
Going forward, ensuring the stem is aligned with the guide rails prior to insertion should prevent further abrasion and using the cork with your stem inserted when the device is carried will prevent debris from accumulating around the same areas highlighted in your pictures.
It is also important to note that, despite your understandable concern, the geometry of both the stem and the Flaske Power Base Unit has been intentionally engineered so that any areas which could experience this type of abrasion from repeatedly inserting the stem incorrectly are isolated from the air path. This counters the risk of inhaling or ingesting any fine particles that may accumulate in these exterior areas over time.
This is an intentional aspect of the Flaske’s design. You can easily confirm this yourself by inserting the stem correctly until it is fully seated in the device and then removing the mouthpiece. You will observe that the central opening of the stem matches the geometry of the gasket in such a way that the aerosol traveling toward the mouthpiece is sealed from the outer perimeter surrounding the silicone gasket and the adjacent metal housing. Consequently, any abrasion that may occur around the exterior of the silicone remains outside the sealed aerosol pathway and cannot enter the air stream during normal operation.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate your diligence and your decision to reach out directly before drawing any conclusions. If you have any additional questions, or if you notice anything changes after cleaning and adjusting the insertion technique, please let us know. We would be delighted to continue assisting you.
Vape Critic / Bud posted a video – Why do we care? Respected 420vapegeeks member ChooChoo forked over the cold hard cash to hear the critic do his thing. Bud reviewed vapes and made youtube content back in the fake name and sunglasses era. He’s sold his brand and community forum, but has returned to make content.
Where do Troy and Jerry Stand? The Flaske promises to be a top vape – but at this time it is not on our list of recommended vaporizers, although the Tafee Bowle Series 2 is.

Vape Geek Life – PBW = Powdery Brewers Wash
420VG member Tigolbitties shared his cleaning regiment with the community – and it’s worth reading. This guy is using Powdery Brewers Wash, or PBW, to keep his glass and vape-ware clean.
PBW does a remarkable job on glass bongs, but it’s best used warm.
Tigolbitties has solved this by using a sous vide immersion heater to keep a tank of cleaner ready to go. Other members have been known to do the same using an old crock pot.
PBW is available on Amazon for 11$/lb. It gets even cheaper if you buy bigger quantities. You may be able to find it locally if you have a home brewing store nearby.
