IQ3 is a bigger IQ2
The new DaVinci IQ3 dry herb vaporizer follows the latest trend of big ass portable vapes, like the Storz & Bickel Venty and Arizer Solo 3. It’s essentially an enlarged IQ2, which I didn’t know we needed, so let’s see what’s up!
Unlike the Venty and Solo 3, which bring impressive tech advances to their lineup, the IQ3 seems to just be bigger. It’s got a bigger oven, a bigger battery, and an overall bigger size compared to the IQ2. One place they stepped up is the cooling chamber. It now has a Cool Core spiral pathway to cool the vapor even more than before, which was already pretty good.
First impressions
With bigger power and a bigger oven comes a bigger price. The IQ3 will set you back $300. That’s a lot of dough for a vape, but nothing compared to the handfull of vapes that have come out this year for well over $400. Here are some first impressions:
- The oven holds a whopping 0.7 grams! That’s HUGE for a portable vape. If massive loads are your thing, this is the new king.
- The IQ3 sports a replaceable 21700 battery that’s as big as I’ve seen in a portable vape. DaVinci claims we’ll get 90 minutes of runtime from it.
- The pearl just keeps getting better. This is the easiest to install and adjust, compared to earlier IQ models.
- The loading dock and glass lined oven are now a shiny black, which appears cleaner even if it’s not. Good move!
- The oven still seems to have the notorious “Devil’s Arse” below it that is a bitch to clean. Only time will tell if this one is truly cleaner.
- The Flavor Chamber and Cool Core work! Even at the highest temps and packed with a full, massvie bowl, I got nothing but cool, comfy vapor.
- The air dial seems to work a little better than the dial on the IQ2, but the real issue is the pack. When the oven is empty, the air flow feels free flowing. But once you pack the oven tightly, all air dial settings feel the same. It really only works well with partial or lighter loads.
- The IQ3 works with DaVinci’s web app, but I couldn’t get it to connect with my iPhone. It worked beautifully when paired with my Windows desktop computer.
- The IQ3 has dosage control, which debuted on the IQ2 without much fanfare. We’ll see if it becomes something useful this time around!

Here’s some eye candy while you wait for the stream to start Friday night!
IQ3 on the left, IQ2 on the right. Because the IQ3 is essentially just a bigger IQ2, this post will feel like a comparison piece. Here we go…
IQ3 oven on the left, IQ2 oven on the right. This view really highlights the size difference between the two units. The IQ3 oven is deeper and holds about 1/3 more than the IQ2 oven.
IQ3 on left, IQ2 on right. This is a view of the battery lid and Flavor Chamber just beneath the mouthpiece.
The little drawer below holds all the accessories…a brush, extra mothpiece, dosing capsule with holder, extra stir tool and a lid for the Flavor Chamber.
Here I used the stir tool to pull out the Cool Core. The tool is also used to remove the Flavor Chamber.
