Dr Dabber Switch 2 is our favorite e-rig
Troy and I can be pretty bougie when it comes to dabs. We like to roll with terp slurpers, and the total cost of each of our rigs is nearly $1,000. The dabs on our rigs are divine, so I was very surprised when I found myself using the Switch 2 at all, let along most of the time.
Dr Dabber really knocked the dab out of the park with this electronic rig. Dabs are quick, consistent, and never burn. The Switch 2 uses a full sized quartz dish with precision heat profiles that mimic torch dabs – the temperature slowly falls throughout the dab, with amazing taste. And it’s so easy to clean!
The Switch 2 didn’t completely replace my top shelf terp slurper (all that’s missing is some more airflow), but it relegated it to secondary use. The dabs are so good, the cleaning ritual is so easy, and the portability is so liberating that I reach for my Switch 2 nine out of ten times, instead of my slurper every time.
Big banger with descent modes = heavenly dabs!
This is my clean sapphire banger after a decent amount of use.
The Dr Dabber Switch 2 can handle anything you throw at it. It has a 20mm banger for small or massive dabs. The induction coil heats the banger from the sides so it evenly heats the entire banger, while the IR temperature sensor below keeps everything on track.
But it’s not just incredible temperature control that sets this rig apart from the rest. It has three temperature profiles on-board that reproduce any kind of hit you would try to get from a dab with a torch. Steady Mode accomplishes what other rigs try to do – keep a steady temperature. Ascent Mode slowly increases the temperature for flavor chasers that like to cold start their dabs. But out of the box the Switch 2 is set to Descent Mode, which is my favorite. This mode mimics the slurpers that Troy and I like to use by slowly decreasing the temperature during the dab. Descent Mode is where it’s at, and is what we use all the time.
Induction heat is fast and efficient
The Switch 2 is fast, and is ready to dab in 15 to 25 seconds, depending on your temperature setting. You can cold load it and wait for the alert to hit it, or hot load it once it’s ready. But induction heat isn’t just fast, it’s efficient, too. The heat goes right to the banger and nothing else, so little heat is lost, and the battery life soars!

Great battery life
The backside of the Switch 2 is for the USB-C charge port, power switch, and battery meter lights.
The Switch 2 battery life can roll past any other e-rig we have. While Dr Dabber claims up to 50 dabs per charge, that is surely under the lowest of demands. We wanted to find out what it would do in real life, so we ran it through the gauntlet several times.
We used the Switch 2 as it came out of the box without changing any settings and got between 17 and 25 dabs per charge, depending on the hit style. Longer hits drain the battery more. Next, we extended the length of the session from 30 to 90 seconds, and the smart phone app warned that this would decrease the battery life. It did, and we got ten total sessions.
Bottom line, the Switch 2 battery life is as good or better than any other rig out there. It keeps up with my demands. Oh, and the Switch 2 can be used while it charges, so you’re never out of the action!
Early release accessories
This Mothership Spining Carb Cap is required for me. It opens up the airflow for much bigger rips. A spinning carb cap needs to be standard in the Switch 2 kit.
The Switch 2 is really good out of the box, but reaches irresistable levels with some aftermarket add-ons. Troy and I both use terp pearls that we added ourselves. Terp pearls are essential to any banger dab, but for some reason e-rigs don’t come with them. Do yourself a favor and add one to your Switch 2.
The second major upgrade was the Mothership Spinner Carb Cap. The Switch 2 Directional Carb Cap gets the job done, but you have to twirl the handle yourself and it doesn’t make larger terp pearls spin in the banger. The Mothership Spinner cap is a game changer. The airflow is increased and spins around to spread the oils all over the banger. We haven’t used the orignial carb cap since we got the Mothership cap, which is expensive.
The Switch 2 comes with a quartz banger that can be upgraded to sapphire. While some will taste the difference, I thought this upgrade was the least impactful of the three. I’m very happy with either banger.
Amazingly, even after the expensive upgrades, the total cost of the Switch 2 is still several hundred dollars less than our terp slurper rigs.
Easy to clean
After you remove the bubbler, pull off the top plate and remove the banger. From there you simply wipe everything down with isopropyl alcohol, and it’s all within reach.
The biggest advantage to the Switch 2 over a terp slurper is convenience, and a big part of that is how easy it is to clean. The slurper cleaning ritual needs to be done immediately after a dab, and it’s so meticulous that I can lose my high over it. Regular maintenance with the Switch 2 is nothing more than both ends of a q-tip. Just swab it clean, isopropyl alcohol optional.
Deep cleans are also really easy with the Switch 2.
- Remove and soak the glass like you would with your bong.
- Pull the top plate off the Switch 2 and wipe down the underside with alcohol.
- Remove the banger and soak it in alcohol with the terp pearl and the glass part of the carb cap.
- Wipe down the induction well and vapor path with alcohol.
- Put it all back together.
I use the Switch 2 so much, in part, because it’s so easy to maintain.
Pristine vapor path for tasty rips
I love this shot. It’s the zirconia ceramic vapor path. We’re looking from the bubbler end towards the banger. You can see the hole at the top of the banger in the distance. That’s where the vapor exits from the banger into the ceramic tunnel.
Most e-rigs bury their vapor path under the glass and deep into the base unit so you can’t tell if it’s clean or not. The Switch 2 not only uses fantastic materials in its vapor path, but the entire thing is easy to see and clean so you always get the best taste.
The vapor builds in the quartz or sapphire banger, flows up and through a zirconia ceramic tunnel and straight into the glass bubbler. That’s delicious! The ceramic tunnel is easy to clean…it’s at the top of the Switch 2 and can easily be flossed with an alcohol wipe.
Smartphone app – ultimate custom dabs!
The screenshot above is of my go-to dab. Cyan (480F) with Descent Mode and a 90 second hold time makes me feel fine!
I’ve talked a lot about how you can customize the Switch 2 to your perfect dab, but not how it’s done. The Switch 2 has a smartphone app that works better than any I’ve used since the Apple Vape Ban of 2019. You have to download the LabLink bluetooth browser and set it up, but once that’s done it works flawlessly. The Switch 2 easily connects, and user preferences are saved on the vape, not the web, so you can use your settings anywhere.
With the app you can set specific temperatures, instead of being locked in to the five on-board temps. You can also extend the session timer (I like 90 seconds, even though it wears down the battery faster, because the session is relaxed), change the temperature profile, and fuck with the lights and vibrations. It tracks sessions, and I like to have it on next to the Switch to monitor temperature and power levels. Someday we hope to be able to fully fuck with the temperature curve to our heart’s desire!

We need to talk about the Drop. This is a high tech hot knife included free with the Switch 2.
It has two settings. Click the button to slide a dab off into the banger. Double-click it for a lower temperature when you want to gently heat up some concentrate to whip it up.
The Drop is temperature controlled, not power controlled, so it never overheats or ruins your dab.
And it’s USB-C charged.

Pt 2 I also love the fact that you don’t have to keep buying expensive atomizer, I think that’s the best reason to buy a Dr Dabber Switch 2. Okay after reading this I’m definitely going to start saving up for 4/20 to maybe catch one of these babies on sale. I really believe there isn’t another erig on the market currently that even comes close to what Dr Dabber is offering with the Switch 2. I really want to try the descent mode that works in the same way a traditional banger would. Where it gets to temp then steadily decreases, instead of just keeping a steady temp like most other erigs do.

I’m blown away at how much ground e-rigs have made the last few years. I’ve always been a divine tribe/core fanboy, but it’s awesome to see the market diversifying.

I can remember 15 years ago, using a tiny g-pen micro to take dabs of shatter on the go. Always anti-carts, I experimented with the various chintzy atomizers until realizing the bucket format is the best.
It would be years until bucket style e-rigs caught on the way that bucket bangers did. I’m confident that most concentrate users would switch off of carts if they were, say, gifted the whole puffco suite of products for example. So, given the progress of technology, there is hope yet! Lol.
Anyway, thanks for being consistent every week guys! Appreciate you guys being a couple of the best “vape-evangelists” as I like to say.
I’ve wanted a Dr. Dabber product since the original switch. I’m a baby dabber so all the glass and big torches are a bit much. The switch 2 would be great way to get the high quality vapor without needing multiple tools to get the perfect dab. I’ve enjoyed learning from both of you and always look forward to the content.

I am a big fan of yours and watch your channel every week Since the weather is getting a little bit nicer I would love to take take the Dr Dabber 2 with me on some road trips to the coast.
Dr Dabber Switch 2 looks like a soda stream or household appliance. Seems quick, easy cleanup hard hitting. If i won this would be for taking out to the backyard or to friends houses. The smart phone app and hot knife are very nice too.
So I just got my switch squared (hardy har har) like four days ago, was super stoked bc I got the lobo first then a firefly 2+ and an xq2 but was finally ready to just get the 4/5 hundred eeig. Needless to say I was stoked. I open it, the satisfying top little peel away sticker to ‘break the seal’ for the clamshell and it was just like Troy said on 420vapezone, super damn satisfying. That is, until the crunch was made apparent. The bottom half of the glass had busted big big my big-time. So I immediately look for contact info and I’m so irritated I can’t even think thru the proper steps and I message them something like ‘there wasn’t even any packing material it was just one small brown piece of paper lazily layer upon the top of the Dr dabber box then that was in a normal brown box and I said it was unprofessional and yada yada. Felt really bad. And little. And stupid. And so damn stupid. And dumb. Imbecilic. Anyways, they apologized and responded immediately and sent a replacement glass that was supposed to arrive Monday, but it somehow is now arriving today, hours before the two rosin orders that were scheduled for today. Strange when things work out. The sapphire bowl came yesterday too and that thing is so legit man it’s wild just how smooth it is. Like the bottom of the banger for the sapphire is smoother than glass. Like if glass had another smooth, like powdery smooth layer on top of its already smoothness. Ahem. I digress. Anyways, I’m up front, waiting for the new glass to arrive between 1130and130 and figured I’d let my take be known. Totheclouds is a super awesome store for all interested btw. Took care of what was most likely not their problem immediately. Very professional, even if the customer (sorry bout that) isn’t always very reciprocating in such regards. Anyways, I have been using the thing lightly, used a silicone piece to kinda plug the busted hole and just used it dry and can’t wait to see the real potential. I’ve been a fan of you and Jerry for the last few years. I found your YouTube channel when trying to find other ways in helping me manage my pain because of my health problems the doctors wouldn’t give me pain meds. And I wasn’t a big fan of them anyway. I’ve been loving my Volcano and Tafée Bowle 2 that I purchased after watching your streams (thanks for the POTV recommendation), but I’ve been hesitant to explore dabs without proper guidance. Since I saw it I thought that, at least on paper, it could surpass the performance and experience offered by the Peak Pro with the 3DXL chamber; by the way, it would be nice to see your comparison of these two e-rigs. Heating profiles, pure materials in the vapor path, temperature control: sounds great! I look forward to trying it out.

I mainly do rosin carts when it comes to concentrates. Unfortunately, some of my favorite brands are easier to find jars of than carts these days so I’m looking into getting something easy to use and easy to clean and makes for a worthwhile experience. The Dr Dabber Switch 2 really seems like the “end game” dab device right now, so it’d be great to jump straight to that. This is something I’d love to be able to add to my modest collection. Interesting design. I like the accessibility for cleaning, being able to iso all the parts that touch vapor is the only way to 100% clean. And the induction heating aspect is neat, also keeps the materials very pure. Seems like some of the best designs are converging, the bucket reminds me of a wireless ball vape/banger heater. Never tried an e-rig but this one seems the most interesting. Good luck all!

I didn’t have a great first impression of this device, but the more I’ve learned the more I’m into it. The dr dabber guys put a lot of thought into this thing, the heat profiles with accurate temperature is huge, dabbing on quartz, seems easier to use than the original, even the hot knife is a massive improvement on the industry standard. I’m glad i didn’t pull the trigger on a peak pro, this is definitely an improvement on nearly every level compared to the puffco.
Great review! I have also been seeing you guys use this device on the stream. The dab profiles, great battery life and ease of cleaning might have pushed this over the top when comparing to other e-rigs. I am still on the lookout for my first dab and dab device, and want it to be an e-rig. There are so many options out there, but after this review, the Switch 2 and included hot knife might be the one. Thanks for what you do.

The changes on the Switch 2 seem to be just what the Dr Ordered. I hated fiddling with those little cups with tweezers on the old one. Hoping to give it a shot.
Everything I know about dry herb vaping I learned from Troy and Jerry. Now everything I know about dabs in is also from them! Eager to try it out. Looks like a cool device.
I’m curious about the Switch 2. I have my original Switch and enjoyed being able to get the exact temp, but that size was something else. With glass hanging off the side. My big concern with the Switch 2 is the non replaceable battery. But after watching your videos, looks like it had good battery life. My go to erig right now is the Carrots Boost Evo since it has a lower temp than a normal Evo. Great taste with the sapphire atomizer.
This device looks very interesting. It seems to be doing a lot of things differently than all of the other e-rigs out there with the quartz bucket, induction heating, and IR temp sensor. It seems like it should taste better than most of the devices available. I hope to experience it myself someday. Thanks for the show and for doing this giveaway.

As someone that is still hiring a regular ol’ fashioned banger with torch is this out the Puffco pro at the same price be the way to go OR… should I stick to cold start dabs with my torch & banger? Switch 2 mimics the cold start heat profile, but the air flow is not as wide open as a banger. That’s the only difference for me.

Dr. Dabber has definitely put some work into this Switch 2. Just from the post + your guys streaming videos, the Switch 2 seems like a huuuuge upgrade compared to their other devices. An induction e-rig + a 20 mm banger really make a difference + the fact that you can rip it as hard as a traditional slurper is GAME CHANGER. Sick review. Finally found one that didn’t leave me with questions. Been looking for an upgrade to my old e-nail and think I have found it. I started out mobile dabbing with a Dr.Dabber boost which did the job but didn’t produce the best taste. Their new tech and app integration looks awesome. Been dabbing on titanium so long sapphire sounds epic.
Thanks for all you both do! My first concentrate dabbingwas the Puffco peak pro. I dirtied it so bad my first use, I put it away away for a year. I since figured out the curve but the device was horrible to introduce to new dabber like myself……. The Switch 2 has no learning curve love it. I also broke down and bought the Mothership bubble spinner cap, and opal Terp pearls. World of difference from the original joystick….. might never use it again.

Ive been waiting for the technology of e-rigs to evolve before investing in one. Ive dewn people hitting puffcos and Dr. Dabber Switched on Discord seshes since the start of the covid pandemic. Ive wanted to grab one for a long time but I haven’t felt like the technology in the erigs and even the batteries in the erig wouldn’t be up to snuff out of the box for my needs.
This Dr. Dabber Switch 2 seems to cover all of the bases ive been concerned about. I like the form factor. I love the battery life. I love the 3 modes it has to replicate taking a dab out of a banger. I love that it’s meant to be as close to a dab off of quartz.
I’d really love to win this amazing e-rig.
Im going through a really rough time with my wife’s health and we could really use a win.

This Switch 2 looks epic ! So far I’ve only ever vaped with the Lobo and a Firefly 2 +. How much better taste and quality of effects do the dab rigs add to the experience ? Fingers crossed to try one of these out in the future !
Dr Dabber was the 1st vaporizer of this sort I discovered that was actually good, up there on price maybe, but people sounded happy with it at that cost. Which is something I value a lot in this sort of tech. As much as I like it when companies work on lower cost items, I love it when they make it worth it.
I’m still using the XQ2 and Lobo, but I still like to research concentrate only devices. After all specializing into it should produce a better end result and experience.
Now that I’m thinking of it, I wonder how well these devices hold up as 2nd hand items. I should look into that soon.

Love your guys show! I Currently mainly use a peak pro with the 3dxl. The induction side of the Switch 2 has me interested. I wonder if you get a more consistent dish heat rather than a peak atomizer because of it. Looks like the switch 2 might be the perfect desktop / house dab rig as its larger, but can take massive rips.

What an advancement in dabbing! The Dr. Dabber Switch 2 is the peak of concentrate consumption. Easy to use, portable enough, and easy to clean are just a few of the amenities observed. Dr. Dabber has been in the game a long time, and it seems they hit on something very special with Switch2! Whether taken straight out of the box and used or adding accessories such as a spinner top, sapphire insert, etc., the Switch2 is a sure winner, as I hope to be the winner of one.

Switch 2 is looking like the boss e-rig. Even if the new model doesn’t Switch between flower and concentrates, using induction/electromagnetism is a big switch from the rest of the industry using tech that’s essentially the same as an old wax pen.

I stumbled into dry herb vaping by accident years ago when I was gifted a Magic Flight Box. Quit partaking for a decade. And just recently stumbled back into the scene- and boy how things have changed! Thanks Troy and Jerry for helping navigate the ever changing vape space! And thanks for helping to create a cool scene! I watch every stream now, I’m making new friends, and I’m out here trying to convert everyone!
